    From the Heart Smart Pantry: White Bean Pesto Dip

    This White Bean Pesto Dip recipe adapted from our hybrid cooking class, Build a Heart Smart Pantry, is the perfect heart-healthy snack! It comes together using just three ingredients you may already have in your pantry and boasts a creamier texture than hummus. Best of all, there's plenty of room for experimentation. Customize your white bean dip base with different add-ins and seasonings to create the heart-healthy snack of your dreams.

    White Bean Pesto Dip – Serves 6


    • 1 15-ounce can cannellini beans (white kidney beans), rinsed, drained 

    • ¼ cup purchased pesto

    • 2 to 3 teaspoons fresh lemon juice 


    Process beans in processor until smooth. Stir in pesto. Add lemon juice to taste. Season with salt and pepper. Stir dip before serving. Dip with carrot, celery sticks or sliced apples or pears or use as a spread.
